‘We typically would have an altar to honour our ancestors upon which we will place photos or objects that remind us of them.
For us it is a time to get together and remember those who have gone before – as well as to look to what the future has in store for us. ‘As a Wiccan Witch I will be spending Samhain with my coven as usual. It could also be seeing certain numbers everywhere or animals visiting you for longer than usual – messages can be found in all of these.’ Geraldine, 43 ‘Over the next week, I keep my eyes pealed for signals from spirit – this could be anything from tuning into the radio and catching a piece of dialogue or lyric the moment you touch the dial, same with the television. I then ring a bell and ask my guides a question and say that I am open to receiving signs. ‘To do this I create an offering, light a candle, and burn frankincense and myrrh, which are both great ways to tap into spirit. ‘I’ll do a personal ritual where I create an altar and light a candle in remembrance of my grandparents and all of the people that I’ve known that are no longer alive. ‘For Halloween, I honour Samhain to celebrate those who’ve died and acknowledge my ancestors.
#WITCH IT HALLOWEEN EVENT MOVIE#
‘I usually end my day in the most cliched way possible… Grounding back into the here and now by watching a gentle witchy movie before heading off to bed!’ Tamara, Intuition Guide and Author Then when the evening comes I’ll cast a circle and carry out an ancestral reverence ritual before cooking dinner and sitting down for a dumb supper – a special silent meal in which an extra plate is put out for the ancestors. ‘On the day itself I’ll usually spend the morning meditating and the afternoon with a mindful walk in the woods leaving offerings to nature where I can. So this Friday I’ll be heading up to a cabin in the Northumbrian woods with my dog, Kali for a few days. ‘For me, Samhain is one of the holiest days of the year and a day where I’m really focused on connecting with myself, nature and my ancestors.
